Inauguración del Topic en Tolosa

Hoy se inaugura el Topic (Tolosa Puppet International Centre). Si, las siglas se corresponden con palabras en inglés, con lo que queda clara la vocación internacional de este espacio cultural dedicado a los títeres en Tolosa, localidad guipuzcoana, situada a unos 25 kilómetros de San Sebastián.
Ahí los grupos profesionales, los investigadores y los aficionados se van a encontrar con un edificio histórico, que alberga 3.600 metros repartidos en distintos espacios: teatro, salas de ensayo, museo, biblioteca y un archivo digitalizado sobre la materia.
¿Pero, de dónde viene esta estrecha relación entre Tolosa y las marionetas? Pues, porque hace unos 27 años, la asociación Centro de Iniciativas de Tolosa promovió un festival de títeres. Desde entonces, cada año el festival ha ido creciendo en importancia, y en cada edición aumenta el número de participantes y se diversifica el origen de cada una de las compañías que acuden.
Ése ha sido el germen del Topic, crear una estructura permanente para el mundo de los títeres, que entre otras cosas sirva de apoyo e impulso para los profesionales que llevan a cabo este arte teatral tan sumamente antiguo.
